Dear Parents, This is a reminder that the first serving of breakfast and lunch for all students at LPA is free this year. However, seconds are charged at $1.25 each. Students will not be able to get seconds unless there are funds in their lunch accounts. If you would like your child to have seconds, you can still deposit money in their accounts online or through the office. Please discuss this with your children so they are prepared. Thank you!

Hello Raider Nation My name is Matt Jensen, my first day Transportation Director here at Lake Park Audubon School District #2889 was June 26, 2023. I live just outside of Ogema with my wife and five children. I have been involved in the school bus industry for 9 years, 5 of those years were spent as Transportation Coordinator with the Circle of Life Academy in White Earth. I am excited for the opportunity to build the transportation department into one of the best in Minnesota. I’m thankful for the support I have received from the school board, administration, staff, and the ever-important school bus drivers who are the heartbeat of our department. I look forward to meeting the students, families and community members. If you have any questions or needs about school transportation, feel free to contact me via email at transportation@lpa.k12.mn.us or call me at 218-238-5657.

The Literacy Academy accomplished significant achievements during Summer #5. A total of 114 pupils, ranging from grades 4 to 8, were enrolled in a K-12 school with a student population of 700. Dedicated educators devoted part of their summer break to assist kids in their summer learning endeavors. Additionally, a group of seven high school students selflessly volunteered as literacy leaders. The bus drivers resumed their duties to ensure the transportation of students, while the kitchen staff diligently prepared meals. In addition, the custodians played a crucial role in moving numerous book boxes. Free bus rides, food (breakfast and lunch), and  free books all help make summer learning accessible for everyone. The crew at LPA is just remarkable. We appreciate your year-round commitment to the education of the youngsters.

Dear Parents, This is a reminder that beginning this school year, breakfast and lunch are free for all students. Last year, the MN legislature passed the universal free meals act which makes this possible. Second meals and a la carte items will be charged at regular price. According to School Board Policy 534: All a la carte items or second meal purchases are to be prepaid before meal service begins. A student who does not have sufficient funds will not be allowed to charge a la carte items or a second meal until additional money is deposited in the student’s account. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the district office.

As we prepare for the upcoming school year, our district is working hard to explore new ways to improve our services for students today and in the future – and we want your help! Community engagement is a high priority at Lake Park Audubon Public Schools and YOUR OPINION MATTERS. All district residents are encouraged to participate in our online community survey to help identify new opportunities to support student education and find solutions to our district’s budget challenges. The survey closes on Friday, August 4. Follow this link to make your voice heard: bit.ly/LPAsurvey2023

The LPA Fishing Team had their second of five events last Thursday, June 29th, on Detroit Lake. There were 38 boats from their pod, which includes Barnesville, Hawley and DGF. The team had success, claiming 3 of the top 8 places! Colby Poegel and Tyson Nerdahl, captained by Bernie Poegel, took 5th place. Dawson Simon and Brody Hanson, captained by Paul Hogenson, took 6th place. Aiden Shea, captained by Conner Christianson, took 7th place. The team was also the host of this event. They served up over 120 walking tacos to hungry student anglers and captains after the event ended. Thank you to the parents who helped out at this event, it was greatly appreciated! Thank you to all the boat captains as well in getting our student anglers out on the water. The next event will be on July 13th at Star Lake.
